Greenfield's impressive start to the season continued with a 4 goal demolition of Prescot Leisure, last seasons Premier Division Champions.
Dennett returned in goal and Captain Phil Burrows was back in the centre of midfield.
Greenfield started the game slowly, allowing Prescot time at the back and deep in midfield to keep position but Prescot only had a long ball to pump into the Greenfield penalty area and Dennett was always on hand to deal with those.
The first goal came following a fantastic leap and won header by Tom Brown in the midfield his header fell to Mike Scully who flicked the ball on for Rob Ablewhite to lob the advancing goalkeeper.
25 minutes into the game and it was 2-0, with arguably the greatest goal ever scored in the St Helens & District Combination! A Prescot attack was broken up and the ball played out left to Graeme Mitchell who was 10 yards inside his own half and looked up and fired the ball into the far corner of the Prescot goal with their goalkeeper only on his 6 yard box unable to even get anywhere near it.
2-0 at half-time. One substitution in Bishop for Gallagher.
Greenfield started the second half better and were awarded a blatant penalty following a foul on Ablewhite. He stepped up but his penalty hit the post and with the goal at Duffy's mercy he fired over on the volley.
Just one minute later it was 3-0 and game over. Ablewhite showed just how good a player he is, not allowing the penalty miss to affect him he latched onto a Lewis Collins through ball and shrugged off the defenders challenge before making the 3 points safe.
Greenfield added a 4th goal shortly after via a Tom Brown header, Scully again with the assist. This was Tom's first ever goal for Greenfield.
Further substitutions in Bromiley for Duffy and Sprague got his first action of the season in place of Tom Brown as Greenfield rested some players.
The home side should have had more, striking the woodwork twice as Prescot lost their heads, a Rob Ablewhite hattrick goal was unfortunate to be chalked off after the referee blew his whistle for a foul on Phil Burrows as Ablewhite finished with a great header.
Prescot barely created a chance and credit to Dennett and his back 4 (plus half-time substitute Bishop) who remained solid for the full 90 minutes.
MOM awarded to returning Skipper Phil Burrows who dominated the midfield.
Next up is our first away game of the season at Rainford North End.
