1 POINT AWAY FROM THE TITLE
After today’s victory, Danson Boys now need just 1 point to secure the title of CHAMPIONS.
With the u13 side already collecting the first trophy of the season for the clubby winning the league title, the u9’s can bring another trophy to the club if they can secure 1 more point from their remaining 2 games.
Although 1 point only secures the title on goal difference, 3 points will win it outright.
The score line in this game did not do justice to the amount of pressure the ‘Bhoys’ put Eltham Lions under. In the 1st half alone, Danson Boys won a total of 14 corners. Outstanding pressure.
The ‘Bhoys’ attacked the Lions from the first kick, when Tobi collected the ball and ‘nut megged’ the defender before pushing the ball to Lewis in the Lions penalty box. Only a great tackle from the defender prevented the opening goal.
On 4mins, Danson Boys won 4 corners in succession, but were unable to penetrate the Lions defence. Immense pressure from the ‘Bhoys’ followed, with shots flying in from Tate, Ross, Tobi and Lewis, which all failed to find the net.
Danson Boys were playing magnificent football and their passing game is truly a delight to watch.
Fantastic defending from Frankie and Michael left no way through for the Lions attack. And with Mitchell in the ‘Bhoys’ goal, the lions never looked like scoring. From defence, to midfield, to forwards, the ‘Bhoys’ are forming into an awesome attacking machine, which puts fear into any opposition defence.
Max replaced Lewis with 1 min of the first half to play and immediately got involved in the action when he made some great tackles and passes before the half time whistle.
Half time score 0-0
On 27 mins, Max played a super ball to Frankie who pushed it down the line to Ross. Ross’ shot was cleared and the ball fell back out to Max. Max pushed it passed a defender, but the ball ran out of play for a goal kick.
Ben collected the ball on the left on 30 mins and made a great run down the line, beating 2 players before knocking in a brilliant cross for Ross, who guided the ball home with a glorious touch with the outside of his right foot. At last the ‘Bhoys’ had the goal they deserved. 1-0.
On 32 mins, Tom and George replaced Max and Lewis.

The Lions created half a chance on 35 mins, but the final ball flew across the face of goal. Magnificent football from Tate, George and Tom in the Lions box had the Lions defending desperately. Tate won the ball with a superb tackle and took the ball past 3 defenders before playing it across field to George, who took it past the right back and played a great ball into the middle for Tom who just couldn’t get on the end of it. The Lions were under immense pressure and their keeper saved them from going 2 down, when he made a great save and took the ball off Ross’ head. The ‘Bhoys’ pressure was rewarded on 41 mins when Tate played a terrific ball to Tom who smashed it home. 2-0.
Lewis replaced Ross on 42 mins. On 45 mins, Tate found Tom in the box from a corner kick and Tom met the ball magnificently to hammer home his 2nd goal and guarantee 3 points for the ‘Bhoys’.
Tobi and Ross replaced Tom and George on 48 mins.
Danson Boys were dominant throughout and after the 14 corners of the 1st half, won 10 more in the 2nd. But could not add to their goal tally.
This magnificent win puts the ‘Bhoys’ firmly in control of their own destiny.
Another brilliant performance from you all, but the Manager’s P.O.M. this week, for his 2 goals and his excellent work rate, after missing 4 games through injury, goes to Tom. Well done Tom.
Footnote.
A little statistic for you all.
Out of the 20 games played so far you have not conceded a goal in 8 of those games, which is almost half. You have not conceded a goal in the last 5 consecutive games, but have scored an incredible 33. This averages out at 6.6 goals per game.
With the goal difference currently at 91, you need 9 more goals in the last 2 games (without conceding any), to end the season with a staggering goal difference of 100.
DO YOU THINK YOU CAN DO IT?
I have been asked to pass on a message from the sponsor of your Axis tracksuits.
He says, “Pass on my best wishes and support to the boys, for the final push to glory”.
NOW LETS GO OUT AND GET THE GLORY.
